This summer, Okehampton is being transformed by the wonderful Friends of St James Primary School Scarecrow Trail, with imaginative creations popping up all around the town.
We were delighted to join in the fun with our own entry, “The Royal Flush”, featuring a rather regal queue for the Loo with a View! It has certainly brought plenty of smiles and laughter to our volunteers and visitors at the garden.

Creating our scarecrow was a real community effort and perfectly reflected the spirit of Okehampton Community Garden. We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, whether by lending props, donating materials, sharing creative ideas or giving their time. From borrowed toilet planters to gifted hair extensions, every contribution helped bring The Royal Flush to life. It is always wonderful to see so many people coming together to create something fun for the whole community to enjoy.

Scarecrow competition entry titled 'The Royal Flush' featuring a humorous royal figure wearing a crown and ceremonial robe, seated on a toilet behind a striped windbreak. A Union Jack flag flies above, with another crowned figure peeking from behind a hedge.
A royally funny entry in this year’s scarecrow competition!
