Today Jeanette and Morwenna from Okehampton Community Garden attended 2 amazing workshops set up for CAG Devon Members

In the morning we learnt about Creating a Community Micro Nursery

At Trimplants we had a behind-the-scenes visit and learnt from 40+ years of commercial nursery experience. Discovering how community groups can set up micro nurseries to grow resilient plants, trees, and food for local spaces. Received practical tips, real-world insights, and clear next steps.

We learnt so much from this workshop and have taken away much inspiration and many ideas to bring back to Okehampton Community Garden!

After a delicious lunch, the afternoon workshop, Practical Biochar Workshop was yet another informative and inspiring experience

We had the chance to see how biochar is made using Dartmoor Dragons, Tawi Stoves, and new kilns at the Blackdown Hills Eco Hub. Learnt so much about how biochar boosts soil health, plant resilience, and locks up carbon using local waste materials.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to CAG Devon, Trimplants and the Blackdown Hills Eco Hub for putting on this incredible day and freely giving of their knowledge and experience so that we can all grow together.
